DINING AT THE STAR
The Star's head chef Duncan Pearcy
Our head chef Duncan Pearcy and his talented and professional team create our menus and seasonal specials. Duncan has an extensive back catalogue of cooking experience.
He augmented his classical training by travelling the world working in kitchens in search of the secrets of local cuisines. He brings all of his knowledge and skill into the creation of his menu at The Star to give you a dining experience you'll want to have again and again.

Pork chop from Secret Butcher - chargrilled with a creamy Aspall's cider sauce
We source all of our ingredients locally wherever possible and we are proud to support our local suppliers and artisans. We are currently featuring dishes based around premium quality cuts from Maldon's Secret Butcher on our Specials menu, a treat you really owe yourself if you like to see prime quality meat cooked as it should be.

Classic Moules Marinières - Locally sourced mussels in a creamy white wine, garlic and onion sauce, served with sourdough bread
We take pride in being able to present our diners with a wide range of classical and fusion cuisine. Whether you are popping in for a beer and a snack or settling down for a three course meal with friends, you'll be sure to find something to surprise and tempt you.

Classic haddock and chips in a light and crispy The Tide Turner beer batter with chunky chips, mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce
We put all of our love and respect into the preparation of the traditional classics of Great British pub dining. You'll find familiar favourites like fish and chips prepared to the highest standard, made with the best locally sourced ingredients that we can find. And of course, we make our amazingly light and crispy batter with The Tide Turner, from our own Blackwater Brewing Company - the perfect pint to enjoy your fish and chips with.
