OUR STORY
The Star is now the taphouse for local brewery Blackwater Brewing Company - a modern craft ale brewer with a rapidly growing reputation for quality and flavour, The brewery started up three years ago as Ramsey Island Brewery, before changing its name earlier this year and embarking on a drive to get their beers into right-thinking establishments within hailing distance of the Blackwater.

The idea of having a taproom showcasing the Steeple-based brewery's ales was a natural progression, and when the chance came up to take over the Star we made our minds up very quickly.

Sian Barefield is our manager and front of house supremo.
She'll be using every ounce of her extensive experience in the local pub scene to make sure your visit to The Star is memorable for all the right reasons!
"We're a new team who want to show what we can do. We're looking forward to bringing the best beers, wines, food and entertainment to our beautiful little part of Essex. A warm welcome to customers old and new is guaranteed. See you at the bar!"

Jack Skerritt is the new tenant of The Star and brewery director of The Blackwater Brewing Company.
Jack is a native of St Lawrence Bay - 'Essex born and brewed' as he likes to say.
He's responsible for The Star's range of exciting, freshly brewed craft ales that bring something really different and genuinely local to this historic pub.
Look out for regular seasonal specials and interesting guest ales and ciders from our brewing friends.
OUR CHARITIES

FARLEIGH HOSPICE
The Star has a long-standing connection to Farleigh Hospice and our commitment to fundraising will be continuing uninterrupted.
Look out for our themed events supporting this extremely important local charity who have a place in the hearts of everyone who has ever depended on them for help and support.
Whenever they are needed, they are there to help, so remember their motto: 'It's because you care, that we can'.

RNLI AND THE BURNHAM LIFEBOAT
The Dengie peninsula is surrounded on three sides by water and our strong sailing community depends on the presence and commitment of the RNLI to keep the lifeboats ready for action at a moment's notice.
We'll be fundraising for RNLI, linking up with the local branch office in Burnham.
