The Star's management team are local through and through.
Our pub manager, Sian Barefield, is a well-known local personality who has successfully managed pubs, clubs and bars all over our end of Essex. She'll be leading our staff, bringing warm hospitality, exciting events and well-presented food and drink to our customers. You'll be sure of a warm welcome and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
​Your beers will be brewed by the new tenant, Jack Skerritt, another local from St Lawrence, who creates delicious craft ale in his hilltop brewery at Newlands Farm, overlooking the pub.
And finally there's our front of house team who are there to make sure your time at The Star is memorable in all the right ways.
FINE CRAFT BEERS FROM OUR OWN BREWERY
The Star is the taproom of Blackwater Brewing Company. Our own range of craft ales - all freshly brewed less than a mile away in our hilltop brewery overlooking Steeple - will always be on the bar, alongside guest ales and national brand favourites.

Tasters are always available. You'll never know how good really fresh beer is until you taste it!
IN THE BAR....
POOL
The pub hosts a regular League Pool night on Mondays, the rest of the time the 7' league standard Supreme Prince table is there for all comers to show their skills. Tucked away in its own game area out of the way of passing customers, it's a great place to share a few frames and get a session on.
PUB GAMES
Darts, dominoes, and plenty of other traditional pub and table games are available - and encouraged! We are delighted to welcome players, spectators and people who just like the feeling that comes with a few good games of whatever you fancy alongside a (very) decent pint or two.
